Moving ahead, slowly.

In the month since Joe's wake we have managed to keep moving forward. I would like to thank each and every family member and friend that showed up to the wake. We could not have done it without all your support. With all the things that were going on we had some sad times, but more than that, we were able to remember the good times of Joe's life in all your stories and comments.

Thank you.

This is the view from Joe's finial resting place. That's the Baker Valley in the distance with the Elkhorn Mountains.

This is looking into the Eagle Cap Wilderness from where we spread Joe's ashes.

This the view of "Rock Lake" with Mule Peak on the left. This scene is one that Joe drew several times during his life.

I should note that "Rock Lake" is not really a lake. Although it might have been centuries ago. In the middle of the valley in the last picture is a place where a rock slide came off the mountains to the right, and filled the valley. We hiked in there with the boys when they were little and were rock hopping in the slide area. When we were sitting and looking at the mountains around us, we could hear water lapping against the rocks below us.... hence, Rock Lake!

There used to be a road that went to the open knob in the foreground, I guess you could say it's still there, but it's only accessible via motorcycle, four wheeler, horseback or by hiking.
I hope the photos show why we decided on this location to spread his ashes and that all of you will visit the area so you can enjoy the wonders that the area has to offer as well.

While not official yet, we are planning on having a, ah,, hum... not sure what to call it? Anyway, we will be meeting there again next year, probably in June or early July to spend time with family and friends on a better note. Will post more info once we decide on a date, probably sometime in January when the Post Office sends out the sign up sheet for vacation time. When we know, we will let you know.

There will be Geocaching, fly fishing, hiking, archery, and a whole lot of shooting (not every day, but staged during the week.) Oh, and for those that have them, motorcycles and 4 wheelers.
